Located in the Amador area, the Panama Convention Center is one of the most modern venues in the region and this will be our meeting point for all participants.
General Information about Panama City
CLIMATE
In September, Panama is in the rainy season. The climate is warm and tropical, with temperatures ranging between 24°C and 30°C, and rainfall, so we recommend bringing an umbrella.
RECOMMENDED ATTIRE
Breathable business casual attire is recommended for plenary sessions. Given the rain, quick-drying sandals or sneakers are recommended.
LOCAL TIME
Panama’s time zone is UTC -5. Panama does not apply daylight savings time.
LOCAL CURRENCY
Panama’s official currency is the balboa (B/.), equivalent to the U.S. dollar (US$), which circulates as current currency. All transactions are made in US dollars and cents, making it easier for foreign visitors to operate. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in most commercial establishments.
ELECTRIC CURRENT
The voltage in Panama is 110 volts and 60 Hz, with two flat inputs (type A and B) plugs.
WATER
In Panama City, tap water is drinkable in most urban areas. However, it is recommended to consume bottled water.
AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION
Tocumen International Airport (PTY) is located approximately 25–30 minutes from downtown. You can coordinate your hotel transfer directly with the hotel or take an official taxi at the airport.
